Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information Slokas collects, why, and what choices you have. The short version: Slokas works fully without an account, using only your browser's local storage; signing in with Google adds bookmarks, tags, and progress tracking stored in our database.

1. Information We Collect

If you don't sign in (guest mode)

Your language and theme preference, and a cache of verses you've recently analyzed, are kept in your browser's local storage — never sent to us as "your" data, and not tied to any identity. See our Cookies Policy for the exact local storage keys we use.

If you sign in with Google

We receive your name, email address, and profile photo from Google. We store these along with your bookmarks, tags, learning history, and practice stats (streaks, verses learned, time practiced) in our database, visible only to you.

Content you submit

The sloka or verse text you paste for analysis, the word you select for a deep dive, and any message you type to the Family Companion (e.g., describing how you're feeling or what's happening in your day) are sent to the AI provider described below to generate a response. Please don't paste personal or sensitive information — the tools are built for scripture and reflective text, not for storing private data.

If you make a purchase

Any paid plan or one-time purchase is processed by PayPal and Razorpay, not by us directly — see §4, Payment Information below for what that means.

2. How We Use Information

To generate the word-by-word analysis, narration, and Family Companion recommendations you ask for;
To cache verse analyses, deep dives, and narration audio by the content itself (not by who asked) so repeat lookups are instant for everyone;
To show your own bookmarks, tags, streaks, and practice stats back to you when you're signed in;
To keep you signed in between visits and remember your language/theme preference.

We don't sell your information, and we don't use it for advertising — Slokas doesn't run ads.

3. AI Processing & Third-Party Services

To provide the Service, the following processors handle data on our behalf:

Google Gemini AI — receives pasted verse text, selected words, translation strings, and Family Companion messages to generate analysis, deep dives, translations, and recommendations.
Google Cloud Text-to-Speech — used as a fallback to synthesize narration audio if our primary narration provider is unavailable.
Google Firebase — Authentication (Google Sign-In), Firestore (database for your profile, bookmarks, and content caches), Cloud Storage, and Firebase Analytics (aggregate, Google-provided product analytics — not a separate ad-tracking script).

We don't use any other third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking scripts.

4. Payment Information

If you make a purchase, PayPal and Razorpay collect and process your payment details (card, bank, or wallet information) directly — we never receive or store your full card or bank account number. We do receive transaction metadata to confirm and support your purchase: the amount, currency, date, status, a transaction/order reference, and the name and email tied to the order. This is used to activate what you paid for, provide support, and handle refunds under our Refund Policy. PayPal and Razorpay each have their own privacy policy governing what they do with your payment details.

5. Cookies & Local Storage

Slokas doesn't set tracking or advertising cookies. We use your browser's local storage for preferences and caching, and Google Firebase manages your sign-in session without cookies. A payment processor's checkout page may set its own cookies while you're on it — that's between you and PayPal and Razorpay, outside our control. 6. Data Retention

Guest-mode data lives only in your browser until you clear it. If you have an account, we keep your profile, bookmarks, and stats while your account is active. Cached verse analyses, deep dives, and narration audio are keyed to the content itself (shared across all users) and retained to keep the Service fast, independent of any individual account. Transaction metadata from purchases is kept for as long as needed for accounting, support, and legal requirements.

7. Data Security

Your data is stored on Google Firebase/Cloud infrastructure and transmitted over HTTPS. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.

8. Your Rights & Choices

You can view your stats and bookmarks any time from your profile, change your language or theme, and sign out whenever you like. We don't yet have a self-serve "delete my account" or "export my data" button in the app — to request deletion or a copy of your data, email privacy@slokas.app and we'll handle it manually.

9. Children's Privacy

Slokas is a general-audience app and doesn't have a separate account type or age-verification for children. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without a parent or guardian's involvement. If your family usesSlokas, we recommend a parent or guardian create and manage any signed-in account on a child's behalf. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us personal information without appropriate consent, contact us at privacy@slokas.app and we'll remove it.

10. International Users

Your data may be processed and stored on Google Cloud/Firebase infrastructure located outside your country of residence, and payment data may be processed by PayPal and Razorpay outside your country as well. By using the Service, you consent to this transfer and processing.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will update the "Last updated" date above.
