Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Slokas(the "Service"), a web app for word-by-word Sanskrit sloka analysis, voice narration, and spiritual guidance. By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.

1. What Slokas Is

Slokas lets you paste a Sanskrit sloka, mantra, or verse and get a word-by-word breakdown — transliteration, grammar, and layers of meaning — with audio narration, in English, Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, and Malayalam. Core features (analysis, narration, browsing the scripture library) are free and don't require an account.

2. Eligibility

The Service is offered as a general-audience educational and devotional tool. We don't verify age at sign-in. If you're under 13 (or the age of digital consent where you live), please use the Service together with, or under the account of, a parent or guardian — see our Safety & Privacy Center for more on this.

3. Your Account

Signing in is optional and, when offered, is done through Google Sign-In — we don't collect or store a separate password. Signing in lets you save bookmarks and tags, and track learning streaks and practice stats. You're responsible for keeping your Google account secure; we're not liable for activity that happens because your account credentials were compromised through no fault of ours.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

Use the Service for anything illegal, or to submit content you don't have the right to submit;
Attempt to disrupt, overload, or reverse-engineer the Service, or scrape it at a scale that degrades it for other users;
Impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation with us;
Paste sensitive personal information (yours or anyone else's) into the analysis or Family Companion tools — they're built for scripture and reflective text, not for storing private data (see our Privacy Policy).

We may suspend or terminate access for accounts that violate these Terms.

5. AI-Generated Content & Accuracy

Word meanings, grammar breakdowns, commentary, and Family Companion recommendations are generated using Google's Gemini AI and cached so a verse is explained consistently for everyone. AI can make mistakes, especially with rare words or unusual verse forms. Nothing in the Service is professional religious, legal, medical, or psychological advice — for passages that matter to you, please verify against a traditional translation or a teacher. Where a verse is a known scripture passage, we show a source attribution (e.g., Bhagavad Gita 2.47) so you can look it up independently.

6. Your Content

You keep whatever rights you already have in the text you paste into the Service. To provide the Service, you grant us a license to process that text (including sending it to the third-party AI providers described in our Privacy Policy) and to cache the resulting analysis so repeat lookups of the same verse are fast for you and other users — cached analyses are keyed to the verse text itself, not to your identity. Your bookmarks, tags, and personal notes remain visible only to you.

7. Intellectual Property

The scriptures, slokas, and mantras in our library are traditional works; we don't claim ownership over the underlying texts. The Slokas name, design, software, curation, and generated analyses as presented in the Service are ours (or licensed to us), and may not be copied or redistributed at scale without permission.

8. Third-Party Services

The Service relies on Google Firebase (authentication, database, file storage, analytics) and Google's Gemini AI (and, as a narration fallback, Google Cloud Text-to-Speech) to operate. Your use of the Service is also subject to those providers' own terms where applicable. Details on what's shared with them are in our Privacy Policy.

9. Payments, Pricing & Refunds

Slokas's core features are free. If we offer a paid plan or one-time purchase, its price will be shown before you pay, in the currency displayed at checkout, and payments will be processed by PayPal and Razorpay— we don't receive or store your full card or bank account details. Taxes may apply depending on your location. We may change prices for future purchases or renewals, but not for a period you've already paid for. Refunds and cancellations are governed by our Refund Policy.

10. Service Availability & Changes

Beyond any paid features, Slokas may add, change, or remove features, or pause the Service entirely, at any time. We don't guarantee uninterrupted availability.

11. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. Devotional and educational content is offered in a spirit of learning, not as religious authority or professional guidance.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Slokas and its operators aren't liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service, including reliance on AI-generated analysis or recommendations.

13. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time, and sign out whenever you like. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or misuse the Service.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Slokas is operated, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. (Placeholder — to be finalized with the operating entity's actual jurisdiction before launch.)

15. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will update the "Last updated" date above; continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the revised Terms.
